A is for Apple

Today is the first day of the A to Z Blogging Challenge, where I will be sharing some of my favourite things through the month of April.  So, I present you with A is for…apple.  Yes, really.

Not any old apples, the ones from the tree in my garden.  I’m not naturally green-fingered, and my garden (a huge, ambitious garden inherited from the previous owners) is the bane of my life during summer months.  One thing I do love about the garden is the huge apple tree at the bottom.  Right now, it is beginning to fill with beautiful blossom, and come Autumn it will be covered in apples.  The nicest apples you’ll ever taste.  Just sweet enough to eat on their own, but tart enough to bake in a pie or crumble.  We eat a lot of apple pie in early Autumn.

I love my apple tree so much, that last year I planted rhubarb, mint and tomatoes.  Who knows, I might make a gardener yet.

  1. Apple pie is my absolute favorite–except when pumpkin is in season.

I enjoy gardens. Alas, my tender care can smite the hardiest of plants.

Thanks for sharing the photo. It’s lovely. And I very much appreciate your blog. Your voice is quiet, honest, sincere. More and more a rare thing, that. Nicely done.

  2. Apple trees are so beautiful. I also love to eat the apples. 🙂 I can’t find a way to follow. I’ll try loading the page one more time. It seems like I’m having trouble with this on some of the blogs.

  3. I went for Apple too- it’s a classic, especially if you have a tree (we have an orchard, it’s all rented, I feel I need to add, in case I sound too smug about it.) The insects and spiders are quite entertaining, if you watch them, you might get used to them- bet your boy likes them! 🙂

  4. Oh you are a lucky girl to have that!! I really would love to get into gardening, then maybe I can actually plant fresh herbs! How fun! Good for you! Lots of yummy apple recipes out their. Enjoy!!
