It’s NaNo time!!

It is October 31st, which means NaNoWriMo is almost upon us. Less than twenty-four hours away, to be precise.  (For non-writers that’s National Novel writing Month.  Write 50k in 30 days.  Crazy, I know.)

I have prepared (okay, procrastinated) by reading the countless blogs about NaNo, which advise, inspire and terrify in equal measures.  Since there is literally nothing left for me to add, I have chosen to use some well-chosen words from others.  This is definitely not cheating, as  Michel de Montaigne said ‘When I quote others, I do so in order to express my own ideas more clearly’

“One of the marks of a gift is to have the courage to use it.”
Katherine Anne Porter

“Writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.”
E.L. Doctorow

“I’m going to write because I cannot help it.”
Charlotte Bronte

“Amateurs wait for inspiration. The rest of us just get up and go to work.”
Chuck Close

“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.”
– Scott Adams

“Do not wait; the time will never be “just right”. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.”
Napoleon Hill

“Faith doesn’t mean the absence of fear. It means having the energy to go ahead, right alongside the fear.”
Sharon Salzberg

So, come on what are you waiting for?  Go forth and conquer NaNoWriMo!
